Meet our Trustees and Teachers
Niamh Clune PhD has had a varied and wide career as a singer, songwriter, poet, and children's author and psychotherapist, completing a PhD at Surrey University. Her work took her to live and work in Africa during the war-torn nineties to consult for Oxfam, UNICEF and World Food Programme. Throughout her life, Niamh has been a passionate environmental campaigner and was involved in many Zero Waste campaigns in the UK and in Ireland. She is now a devoted grandparent, songwriter and founder of We Are the Voice.
David Symons is UK Head of Sustainability for consultants, WSP. He works with companies on their sustainability strategies and established, WSP's own Future Ready programme. He's father to Lucas, is a keen distance runner and a rather less accomplished photographer.
"Ali has over 22 years’ experience in TV Production Management and has worked on many different programme formats, including a BAFTA award-winning children’s television. She is married to a cameraman and they have two young boys, who keep them continually busy. She loves working with children of all ages and having the opportunity to nurture their creativity and confidence. "
Aleisha Shimizu MMus, BA(Hons), is an accomplished songwriter, composer and vocal coach with a wealth of live music and recording experience. She teaches all ages and is passionate about helping people find their voice. She is a very proud Mother of two. When in the garden, she attempts to tame some of the weeds and grow a few flowers and veggies.
Richard is a freelance Composer, Producer and Sound Engineer with over 20 years of industry experience ranging from scoring TV shows for the BBC, Channel 4 and SKY TV; international advertising campaigns and producing a wide range of commercially successful music. He has also worked with local councils on youth centred grass roots music projects and loves the process of helping children find the musicality that we all have within.
Richard is a proud father of 1 and enjoys spending his free time on family excursions to the mountains, wherever they may be.
Now Artistic Director of the Riverhouse Barn Arts Centre, most of Emily's career has been as a producer/director in TV. She worked on all sorts of Programming, starting at Sky Sports, then with Star Sports in Hong Kong, Singapore, JSkyB in Japan, Director of Production at Fox Sports International in LA.Her last TV credits were for Time Team, C4's iconic Archaeology Programme.
Riverhouse Barn Arts Centre is a community arts centre in Surrey. In this role, she is responsible for programming as well as strategic planning, staffing, fundraising and keeping the place afloat!
